It's over!

I did my interview.

(*huge sigh of relief*)

And it went pretty well. I'd talk about it more, but I have to go to school soon, and I'm starting to get quite ill, so I don't care enough to finish posting.

Don't touch me. I'm contaminated. (*coughing fit*)

Some wounds never heal

I've been stalking someone via their blog. We need not go into details as to who it was. But it made me learn new things about them, rediscover old things I loved about them, and - more than anything - wish desperately that I could go back in time and fix that glaring decision that threw my life into turmoil.

Sadly, this time-travel only happens in my dreams. About every other night. And I always have to wake up to remember that things are still broken.

...

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, don't worry. This post was mainly for my sake.

Happy Inaguration Day!

Cheers, President Obama. Let's see what you can do.

Anyhoo, there are far more important things going on than just the first African American president being sworn in. Like me getting an email from Yale asking if I'm free next Monday for an interview.

(*grasps desktop to keep from passing out, suddenly drenched in a cold sweat*)

Yes, I'm applying to Yale University. Yes, I know that the odds of me getting in are too slim for comfort. However, I gathered my courage and applied. And lookie! I made it past the first round. I meet the criteria. They want me to do an interview.

A...forty-five...minute...stroll through Hades.

Sorry, I shouldn't be whining. But I am terrified of face-to-face communication with a representative of the school I dearly want to go to but fear I'm not good enough for. My writing is far more eloquent than my gifts at speech, and I worry that I'm going to get in there, sit with fingers clenched, and the interviewer's going to ask me, "So, why should Yale consider you as a student?" and I'm going to fall sobbing to the floor and grab the man by the ankles, wailing, "Please, Mister, I want it SOOOOO BAAAAD!!!"

(*flinches*)

His name's Harry by the way. The guy who's trying to schedule an interview with me. I hope his teeth aren't too sharp.

1st Use of First Aid Kit!

As you may or may not know, I took an Emergency Medical Services class last semester and, since I passed the class, I am now a Certified First Responder. I got a Red Cross first aid kit as part of the class and put it in the trunk of my car, thus to be prepared if anyone suddenly dropped dead around me.

Well, I got to use it yesterday!

...okay, so no one was bleeding . . . or broken . . . or even in pain. See, I was taking my dad to the bus stop in the very early morning when our back left tire blew out. We pulled over and my dad was trying to change the tire, but it is considerably dark at 6:30 am in January, and he couldn't see what he was doing. All seemed lost until . . .

HUZZAH! Grosland's first aid kit has a flashlight in it!

So I got out my flashlight and we were able to change the tire. (*winning smile*) And it could not have been so without my first aid kit. I felt so prepared.

Besides, who wants to have to bandage up someone's bloody face anyway?

...

(*guilty grin*)

The Last Day of the Semester

Hurrah! I am soooooo glad that second term is finally over. I can stop worrying about grades and just relax for the entire four-day weekend. (*smiles gleefully*)

Of course, that does mean that third term - the term in which I fail most epically every year - starts next week. Sigh.

Ah well. Every day brings us one day closer to graduation, neh?

Entrepreneur in our Midst

My dear friend Erin Asay, who has had some bad luck with getting a job around here, has finally decided to take matters into her own hands. She's taken on a business originally founded by her sister-in-law: Temples Around the World. Basically, you place an order specifying the LDS temple and the size, and this fantastic artist blows the glass and hand-crafts it into the shape of that temple. They very in size (2-3 inches to 6-7 inches, I think.) and the prices are different depending on the size. For more information, go to their website:

www.templesaroundtheworld.com

If you don't see the picture of the temple you want, no worries. Just call Erin Asay and she'll look up the one you want. Happy shopping! And spread the word!

I am not a crook!

True story: My counselor suffers from Loser's Lurgy. (see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince)...(gosh, I can't believe you needed a reference. Doesn't everyone have the HP books memorized? Or are you too busy reading about sparkling vampires?)

Anyhoo, about my school counselor. We've been working together for a few months to get my college applications all filled out and sent in and stuff. I've been particularly stressed because they're finally sent in and there's nothing more I can do. (Plus, I'm applying Ivy League.) I'm always on the lookout for something to go wrong, and last Friday my counselor called me into his office to tell me that something DID go wrong. Very wrong.

So it turns out that my counselor "accidently checked the wrong box or clicked the wrong thing or something" and told all of the colleges I'm applying to that he knew I had been convicted of a felony.

...yes. My school counselor told Yale and Princeton that I was a felon.

...FYI, I'm not.

So when he tells me this, I just busted up laughing. The people in the hall probably thought I was having some kind of episode; it was very loud. My counselor then explains how it took him between two and three hours calling around to finally get it fixed. He called the Common Application people and then the individual schools, it was a mess. He told me he was almost positive that it was fixed, but he just wanted to make me aware in case the cops show up at my house.

(*rolls eyes*)

So we'll see how my college application turns out. I may be dragged out of Concert Choir by police dogs one of these days. Y'know. Whatev.

Gasp! Rediscovery!

Okay, so you know something ridiculously funny about me?

...actually, it's not funny at all. It's pretty stupid, really. Ah, well.

The story is that I started this blog almost three years ago and never posted anything on it other than the opener. Then, recently, some friends of mine asked me why I never posted on my blog and I said, "I have a blog? Oh yeah!"

So here I am.

Do you feel enriched yet?
